In Which The Last Person In The Gaming World To Have Played A Soulslike Finally Does So

Touch grace (Snarky aren't we.)

You are maidenless (Get bent buddy)

You are fated to die unremembered (You don't know me.)

There is a newcomer's area that invites me to take the plunge, for knowledge. I do so, and eventually take out the first boss, basically by blocking it, dodging like hell and then making DAMN SURE it goes down before it can get a clean hit on me, because EACH ONE COUNTS.

Tree Sentinel ain't nothing to fuck with It will, in fact, fuck with me. Trying to pick it off at a distance is not something I'm ready for yet either.

A shop and a blacksmith in a church. Obviously I'll really get to know these places really well early on.

----

(Early boss, Elden Ring) Azula in the wolf cave took like 8 attempts to beat even getting used to their patterns. I still have to get used to optimally timing my dodges and blocks in this game.

Deep S-Block — Today at 4:11 PM

I figured it was going to take some getting used to, but it's going to take a lot of getting used to. Not a dealbreaker, natch.

---

Cleaning out a torch knight encampment is good practice. EXACTLY what's needed.

Melina a cute. :3

Maidenless?

Spectral Steed Whistle eh? A horse will come in handy, for sure.

Also it looks like Melina is there for leveling up via runes/souls/xp/cash/merit badge credits

"Oi, you there, can you help cully? Why won't anyone look me in the eye." I would if I could find where this dude is at.

-----

I found the dude (Boc), and I also found enough runes to get another helm type and more arrows. Also another NPC (Renna)

---

There was a long campaign with a stormgate giant. About 20 takes and 3 really good unsheathes later, down.

Stormhill, a lot of wolves, and a lot of ghost jellyfish were on the other side, as well as (eventually) grace.

"I'm getting the hang of this whole 'pain' thing, y'know"- Soulslike adjustment.

There's a ballista guarding a key area an NPC was talking about (the one who gave me some ghost jellyfish summon ashes.) They made their point quickly with that one.

Also, found a colosseum and I presume a tutorial invader, as I set my stuff (for now) to offline mode to keep the focus off multiplayer.

BOSS: Margit the Fell, 50% is the best I've done the first time I faced a boss.

Did that hammer do AOE damage while I was above it and not actually hit by the hammer!?

---

I'm ALMOST ready for Margit, but not quite. It appears I AM ready for the Round Table Hold, a whole hub. A key I found earlier leads to a chest with a crossbow in it, that I'm short 1 dex for. So Vigour, Dex and Strength are levelup targets for me. Dex for the crossbow and strength for the better shields. Vigour for health, which is always important.

---

New cave (Stormfoot catacombs), new jackass enemies (goblins with blood loss capable melee strikes and throwing daggers), and fire traps that I manage to narrowly escape. Rare footage of Deepshock hole-in-oneing a souls boss (Watchdog.)

The wandering nobles are a good summon it seems, they made that possible.

I beat my character against Darrivil, in an 'Evergaol', for long enough to break him down and get his sword + enough runes to get a crafting expansion and +Vigour.

Margit, the Fell Omen defeated (2 hours and about 200+ takes later. One nation under wandering nobles.)

I hate warbirds, and I hate those knights. That castle is one hell of a schlep. However, it's a nice castle even if many of the enemies there can get bent. I've given up on it for now after getting enough items though. There's just too much.

Alexander the iron fist: "Just keep clobbering away at the old behind, pause."

Smithing stones for sale at a nomadic merchant near saintsbridge. Excellent.

Going further along there led to a boatman who summoned undead (Tibia Mariner), and an out of depth area with someone who wants deathroots. I manage to get some runes quickly that way.

HOLE IN TWO ON GODRICK. HOW. Thanks to the Nepheli and Jelly connection.

The church of Irith hath a thortherer that'd be good for a different thort of character.

The thing about arsenal charm is that it makes it easier to carry it in.

A magic academy, and a lot of magical enemies.

Finally, cleaned out the castle and opened it from the other side.

---

Tree sentinel finally down. He still doesn't mess around.

Note: Tibia Mariner is a TYPE of boss that guards deathroots. A midboss.

I can now talk to someone who channels the Two Fingers. That 'remembrance' I got from Godrick is relevant.

Carian Study Hall. I have no idea how to get higher than the rafters with the rats. Preceptor Miriam can teleport and has a magical bow that hits like a ballista. Glad I could eventually beat her.
Agheel dragon in 4, Stonedigger troll in (a VERY CLOSE) 1.
Uld Palace Ruins, Grand Lift of Dectus, Raya Lucaria. Not sure what to do in either yet.
There's a giant turtle in the academy region, and I can literally see his dingaling (that is, his bell actively ringing under him.)
Red Wolf of Radagon in 4 after a lot of statue face guys and magic draining zombies in the academy.
Rennala is down. Her first phase is Silent Hill, her second phase is Touhou.
Grave Warden Duelist (cave boss) in one, got the summon ashes of Banished Knight (Bill) Engvall. Here's your sign.
Patches in one, turns out he's a black market seller and ex-thief, and he has some stuff I'll wanna come back for later when I have more runes.
Castle Morne is the site of a big, and very ugly war between humans and demi-humans. Leonine Misbegotten in two
Delivered Irina's Letter (the letter of someone with clouded vision near the castle) to Edgar, commander of Castle Morne.
Irina, poor girl.
There are giant sentient hands in Caria Manor, and I do indeed catch them.
Royal Knight Loretta thought she was a soldier, but she was another mage. Twice I tried to fight her and she had it coming. Worried it would take an age. Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged.
Onyx Lord (Evergaol) in 1.
A HUGE crystal mine, Magma Wyrm Makar in 2
Unsightly Catacombs / Perfumer Tricia and Misbegotten Warrior in 2. Tricia is now a summon.
One crucible knight is a crash course on the importance of parrying. Two is a crash course on the importance of picking one's battles.
Sealed tunnel is good for smithing stones, runes and more + to the uchigatana.
Chainsaw machines are the worst.
Onyx Lord (Sealed Tunnel) in 1
Godskin Apostle (Windmill Town) in 2
Mount Gelmir, not sure how to cross that broken bridge yet.
Sanguine Noble in 1
Wyndham Catacombs is just about beelining and possibly taking out a Leyndell knight if you can't avoid it. They are a hassle.
Erdtree Watchdog in 2.
Flying Dragon Greyll, trying to open up the beast area, took too many attempts to count.
I spent a lot of time looking for other bosses and areas, because draconic tree sentinel is too much right now.
Godskin Apostle in windmill town was one I could do in 2. Caelid tower apostle, on the other hand, will take significantly more attempts than that. It has.
Radahn boss fight, a whole battle festival. A challenge against the demigod. Pretty cool.
Radahn in 2! I did not see that coming.
After a star fell, it led to the city of Nokron, with a platforming challenge, a battle with the main source of all my problems in life (in 1), a whole lot of troll vikings and a troll singing shaman, and some quality summon ashes (Mimic Tear, Five Guys)
Boss: Regal Ancestor Spirit (A giant deer) in 3.
Dragonkin Soldier in 1
Caelid Erdtree Catacombs, EBW x2 in 1
Leyndell Castle is still hell in the form of a castle, but Godfrey in 1 and Morgott, also in 1.
Forbidden Lands, BBK there in 2.
The whole snowy area up north is ridiculously hard, especially Death Rite Bird and Castle Sol's boss (Commander Niall), so I'll come back later.
Crystalian (Lucaria Mine) in 1.
There's a manor inside a volcano. That's neat. They want me to pick off fellow tarnished folks, and that's a no from me. On an unrelated note, there's this one wall that looks funny with a dead guy next to it. What if I roll into it?
Godskin Noble (narrowly) in 1. Needed all my flasks for it.
Dragonbarrow BBK down.
Rykard in 1 (Volcano Manor)
Cleaning out the mountaintop of the giants, spiritcaller cave (Godskin pair/spiritcaller snail in 2) and a sidequest involving a spirit jellyfish looking for her sister.
Vyke (Evergaol boss, Giants Mountaintop) in 4, Borealis the Freezing Fog too powerful atm.
I already have one half of the haligtree medallion, now I need the other, and it's at the village of the albinaurics.
Ordina, Liturgical town. It's all right, except for the dark world version with the invisible ninjas and magical archers.
I had an easier time with Elphael than expected. I'm sure this redhead lady will be a fairly easy boss. What was her name again?
Yeah maybe some other time.
I go back to the fire giant and -finally- defeat it, needing a rune arc to do so. Then comes the Forge of the Giants and committing a cardinal sin.
Haligtree Town is where Sisyphus originally was born. Also, Loretta is the one thing in that town I DID manage to beat in one try.
Crumbling Farum Azula, Godskin Duo in 2.
Maliketh down, and even with his very low health, he's not as easy to beat when everything he does is basically a free action.
Gideon in 2 at Leyndell.
Godfrey/Hoarah Loux in 4
Radagon, not yet.
Ranni's questline has me going through another hidden city similar to Nokron, with even more metal slimes, followed a whole LAKE of rot and a bunch of shrimp.
Astel in 2.
Adula in 1 (Double KO)
Astel (Yellow Annex) in 2.
Mohg in 1. Not only Mohg in 1, but I beat the Nihil countdown! One nation under Mimic Tear +10 and a maxed Uchigatana!
Alecto Black Knife Ringleader in 3, Black Knife Tiche ashes.
Double KO vs Malenia. I died first (BKT finished her off), so it favours Malenia.
Elden Beast down, normal ending chosen.
A while later, after using BKT and paying VERY close attention to Malenia aggroing and the Scarlet Aeonia dodge timing, Malenia is down. I gambled on the recovery of the Aeonia the second time she did it in the attempt, and then beat her before the scarlet rot DOT finished me off, crediting me with the win.
